20081222_060Lufthansa Technik Malta specialises in the maintenance and repair of Airbus, Boeing and other large aircraft. To further expand and develop their company, LTM chose REIDsteel to design and manufacture a maintenance complex in Malta, with two bays in addition to current services.

This Lufthansa aircraft hangar is 280m wide in three clear spans of 91.5m.

It is 90m deep with a clear height of 26m under all the steelwork, fronted with 18 electrically operated door leaves, the largest two doors being 26 metres high by 91.5 metres wide.

The narrow body hangar has a door with 6 slabs on 3 tracks, giving clear entrance of 60m wide, left, right or centre, by 15m clear height.

The two higher aircraft hangars have 12 doors slabs on 3 tracks, giving an entrance up to 120m wide open left, right or centre, with 26m height overlapping on each hangar.

The new facility will be able to accommodate two Airbus A380s and many narrow body aircraft simultaneously as well as having a number of workshops within it.

In addition to Lufthansa and Air Malta aircraft, customers include: Spanair, AirOne, BMI , Germanwings, Fly Niki, Privat Air, Arik Air, Wizz Air, SunExpress and Livingston Energy Flight.
